Valerie King / AUTHOR Valerie was educated in Cambridge, England and now combines writing children's books with a career in textiles. She has collaborated on a number of children's books with illustrator husband, Colin. Also published on Amazon is 'The Return of Old Smokey', a delightful picture book about a rescued steam train. Her speciality is rhyming text that is memorable and funny for the young reader. Colin King / ILLUSTRATOR Colin King, the son of a blacksmith was born and grew up in Essex, England. He began his art training at Colchester School of Art, where he studied drawing and printmaking. In 1968 he gained a Master of Art degree in illustration at the Royal College of Art, London. He then worked as a freelance illustrator for such clients as Shell, The Sunday Times Magazine, Fortune Magazine and the BBC, as well as various leading advertising agencies and publishers. For many years he taught illustration part-time at Cambridge School of Art and Wimbledon School of Art, London, as well as exhibiting his prints and watercolours. He began drawing pictures for children's books in 1976 and has illustrated over sixty titles to date. He has been illustrating books for Usborne Publishing for nearly forty years. Included in a wide variety of subjects is a best selling children's encyclopaedia, 'See inside' flap books, Jigsaw Atlases and books about Spies and Detectives. His books have been translated into many languages worldwide.
