Martinko is based in Princeton, New Jersey, and operates out of P.J.'s Pancake House directly across the street from Princeton University. Following the tradition of Cynthia Hawkins from the cult movie Diva, who refused to sign a recording contract, insisting her music only be heard live, Martinko has refused to sign any book deals and has woven his tales over the past twenty years from his favorite booth at P.J.'s. A movie deal is also out of the question, notwithstanding his acceptance into the Screen Actors Guild for his landmark role as the N.J. Insurance Commissioner in the movie The 13th Child: Legend of the Jersey Devil.
