John D’Emilio is a professor of gender and women’s studies and of history at the University of Illinois at Chicago, USA. He is the author and editor of more than half a dozen books, including Sexual Politics, Sexual Communities; Intimate Matters; The World Turned; and Lost Prophet, a National Book Award finalist.
