Held there by knife-point, and partially by his own curiousity, the author hopes to uncover the mysteries behind this child's torment. He knows she lives alone in this huge home. But where are her parents? And what was her life like before the accident and this ""kidnapping""? Who feeds her? Who helps her with her homework? Who does the school contact when she needs help? It's been almost a week, and the questions are adding up, while few answers are in sight. ""Leaving this house without finding out what's going on here is no longer an option for me...!"" The improbable imprisonment that transformed ""I"" into a novelist continues into a third, fourth and fifth day. Since his debut in 2002 Nisio has penned more than 50 novels and a number of comics. And he has quickly become one of Japan's top selling author's in recent memory with more than 5 million units sold since 2009. In 2014, as in 2012, he was the top selling author in Japan (outselling Haruki Murakami by more than half a million units).
