OverviewGlobal university rankings shape higher education policies, institutional strategies, and student experiences worldwide. These rankings measure and compare universities based on indicators like research output, academic reputation, and faculty qualifications. While rankings can enhance transparency and promote healthy competition, they also generate consequences. High rankings can attract funding, top faculty, and international students. Meanwhile, the pressure may lead institutions to prioritize metrics, potentially decreasing teaching quality, social impact, and equity. As their influence grows, it becomes important to examine the real impacts and outcomes of global university rankings on higher education systems. Impacts and Outcomes of Global University Rankings explores how global university rankings influence institutional behavior, resource allocation, and policy decisions within higher education. It examines the outcomes of these rankings, including their effects on academic priorities, equity, and the student experience across different regions and institutions. This book covers topics such as academic reputation, internationalization, and education quality, and is a useful resource for educators, policymakers, government officials, academicians, researchers, and scientists.
