Overview

Das Cytomegalievirus (CMV) ist das größte Mitglied der Betaherpesviridae. Eine CMV-Infektion ist die Hauptursache für nicht-A-G-virale Hepatitis. CMV-Hepatitis tritt relativ häufig im frühen Kindesalter auf, insbesondere im Säuglingsalter, und ist wichtig, da sie zu Leberzirrhose und sogar zum Tod führen kann. Diese Studie wurde durchgeführt, um die Rolle von CMV bei Kindern mit Hepatitis, die serologisch negativ für Hepatitis B und C sind, durch Nachweis des CMV-Proteins (pp65) im Lebergewebe mittels Immunhistochemie zu bestimmen.
