Author Information

Mohamed Ajouaou is an assistant professor of Islamic theology at VU University Amsterdam and the first head of Islamic chaplaincy and Islamic spiritual care at the Dutch Ministry of Security and Justice. He has also been a secondary school lecturer of religion and philosophy as well as an advisor to the government, local authorities, and civil society organizations in the field of Islam and integration of religion into the public domain. He has published widely regarding Islamic theology and is the winner of the Best Dutch Muslim Theologian and Best Islamic Theological Publication awards. Ajouaou studied philosophy in Fes, Morocco, and theology at the University of Amsterdam, then earned his teaching qualification on biblical knowledge and culture of Christianity at Utrecht University. He earned his most recent degree, a doctorate, from Tilburg University in the Netherlands.
