Imagining With Little Ears is a wonderful adventure that helps children listen with intention and discover hidden beauty in romantic classical music. In a world full of chatter and distraction, this book asks a reminding question: How can we appreciate beautiful music while using it to guide our heart posture in the right direction and better seek the Lord for His perfect saving love? With two different listens and two different mouse stories we hear the same piece of music - Liebestraum No.1 by Franz Liszt. The first listen is guided surface-level listening, with a focus on capturing the melodic ideas, and along with it a musically intuitive mouse feels the surface-level effects of the music. In contrast, as the second listen is deeper guided listening, with a focus on the melodic purpose and harmonic relevance, another mouse experiences God's sanctifying agape love and leaves behind his comfortable life to share it with another. As the listening deepens, so does our understanding of the music, and with practice our ears can heighten to be much more diligent and capable. Take it slowly, listen with passion, and attempt to really capture the detailed aspects of this transcendent work in a way that you never expected to, while worshiping our Lord Jesus Christ with all of your heart.
