Tim Mulgan asks us to imagine such a world in his work, Ethics for a Broken World. 1 Mulgan imagines a future world where resources are insufficient to meet basic human needs and postulates that resources may become so scarce because of damage caused by humankind. Thomas Malthus also warned that the Earth's natural resources might not be able to keep up with the growing human population.2 Malthus foresaw the population growing too fast for food production to keep up with demand.
