Images of Wolverhampton has been compiled from the collections of the Wolverhampton Photographic Society, one of Britain's longest established amateur photographic clubs. Over 240 pictures record the changing town (and city) since 1859 - the date of the oldest photograph included here. Although today's city centre is well covered, there are also images of the outlying suburbs, including Penn, Heath Town, Tettenhall and Bilston. Together with well-researched and informative captions, they offer the reader a powerful link with Wolverhampton's past - recording the minutiae of changing street scenes, individual buildings, fashions, and the daily lives of our ancestors.
