Author Information

I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again originated as the Cambridge University Footlights show Cambridge Circus. The show's title came from a phrase commonly used by BBC newsreaders after a stumble or mistake, and established the series' irreverent tone. It was first broadcast on the BBC Home Service in 1964 (subsequent series were broadcast on the BBC Light Programme). The cast included Tim Brooke-Taylor, John Cleese, Graeme Garden, David Hatch, Jo Kendall and Bill Oddie and it was produced by Humphrey Barclay. Music was provided by Dave Lee and his band. The series came to an end in 1973, but was hugely influential - members of the cast would go on to hit shows The Goodies, Monty Python's Flying Circus and the beloved 'antidote to panel games', Radio 4's long-running I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue.
