Overview

In northern New Jersey during the 50s, 60s and 70s, there were a multitude of nightclubs with live music where bands worked five nights a week to enthusiastic crowds. For many years, musician Alfredo Nittoli successfully played most of them and made a good living. This book details how he got into the music business in his teens, how he stayed there and adapted to the changing times and what he's doing now at the age of 85. Throughout his career, he formed many bands of different genres including jazz, doo wop, swing, and rock. Born in Newark in 1936, sax player, singer and band leader, Alfredo Nittoli, has had a long career pursuing his dreams of performing, song writing and producing CDs, video and film projects. He co-wrote the song ""Here's to the Band"" for Frank Sinatra and produced the CDs, Unconditionally for his wife, Sharman, and their collection of duets, Double Standards. He started his acting career late in life working as Joe Pesci's stand-in and has appeared in several movies including Casino, Lethal Weapon 4 and The Irishman.In 2019, he completed his lifelong dream of writing, directing and producing the semi-autobiographical film, Does the Band Eat, currently on Amazon Prime. He credits his dad for raising him to believe in himself and instilling strong leadership skills. Now in his mid-80s, he lives with and his wife and their beloved dog, Gaetano, in Garfield, NJ, cooking delicious Italian meals and contemplating their next project. A lifetime New Jersey resident, Sharman is a former educator, piano player, singer, composer and writer. Married to Alfredo, together they have had a long career of developing creative projects.
