Author Information

Lisa Friedrichsen is a professor at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas, where she teaches database and web development classes. She also has written several prominent Access, Office and web-related textbooks. Friedrichsen spent a decade at IBM Corp. before becoming a consultant, author and college professor. Combining her extensive industry experience with her passion for teaching, she creates clear, practical presentations. She earned a B.S. in engineering from Iowa State University and an MBA from Drake University. Dr. Mark Ciampa is a professor of information systems in the Gordon Ford College of Business at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Prior to this current role, he served as an associate professor and the director of academic computing at Volunteer State Community College in Gallatin, Tennessee, for 20 years. Dr. Ciampa has worked in the IT industry as a computer consultant for businesses, government agencies and educational institutions. He has published more than 20 articles in peer-reviewed journals and has written more than 25 technology textbooks, including CompTIA CySA+ Guide to Cybersecurity Analyst, Security+ Guide to Network Security Fundamentals, Security Awareness: Applying Practical Security in Your World, CWNA Guide to Wireless LANS, and Guide to Wireless Communications. Dr. Ciampa holds a Ph.D. in technology management with a specialization in digital communication systems from Indiana State University and has certifications in security and healthcare. Carol M. Cram is the author of more than 35 textbooks on computer applications, business communications and Internet-related subjects. Ms. Cram was also a long-time faculty member at Capilano College in North Vancouver, where she served as the Convenor of the Executive Support Program and the Program Consultant for Business and Computers in Continuing Education as well as instructor of business and computer-related courses. Lisa Ruffolo has served as a technical writer and editor for more than 30 years. She is pursuing an emphasis in operating systems and digital literacy. She has edited top-selling books in the fields of introduction to computing, Microsoft Office, PC repair and computer programming. Lynn Wermers is a professor in the computer science department at North Shore Community College in Massachusetts, where she teaches IT, data management, data analysis and web development courses. She also teaches part time in the math department for the College of Professional Studies at Northeastern University. Wermers has authored numerous leading books focusing on Excel for Cengage. Steven M. Freund serves as a lead instructor of various Microsoft� Office, computer concepts, programming and internet technology courses throughout Central Florida. An integral author for the successful Shelly Cashman Series� since 2001, he has presented at the annual customer conference, the Shelly Cashman Series Institute and other customer events.
