Overview

What began as the author's academic research into property fraud soon evolved into his scrutiny of frauds perpetrated in related spheres of activity. Written by a highly qualified, widely travelled and vastly experienced property specialist, who has drawn on and analyzed material from numerous sources around the world, this book simultaneously delves into the scope of, and devastation caused by, real estate fraud in the U.S.A., Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom and in tandem explores where it and its associates, hypocrisy and secrecy, merge and submerge. Who does what, how and why are the questions posed and answered in this revealing and insightful book, implicating real estate and Establishment insiders alike. The author is a retired but not retiring expat now rejuvenating in Thailand with a [currently female] Thai partner half his age and a quarter his girth. Happily divorced with two adult children he was born in drizzly, grisly England, where he lived, worked and played in its capital city and later in three former British colonies, Hong Kong, Canada and New Zealand. While gaining a lifetime's experience in the real estate industry he obtained professional qualifications in the field and a Master's degree in Land Appraisal, all of which, along with his resolute distrust of authority in all its guises and manifestations, contributed to the production of this, his first, book.
