The author is a retired but not retiring expat now rejuvenating in Thailand with a [currently female] Thai partner half his age and a quarter his girth. Happily divorced with two adult children he was born in drizzly, grisly England, where he lived, worked and played in its capital city and later in three former British colonies, Hong Kong, Canada and New Zealand. While gaining a lifetime's experience in the real estate industry he obtained professional qualifications in the field and a Master's degree in Land Appraisal, all of which, along with his resolute distrust of authority in all its guises and manifestations, contributed to the production of this, his first, book.
