OverviewThe Niccolini, formerly known as ""Teatro del Cocomero"", is the oldest stage theater in Florence and one of the first ""modern"" theaters in Europe. Its origin dates back to the mid-seventeenth century, when a group of nobles rented some rooms of Palazzo Ughi in a street named Via del Cocomero. The book traces its history from the origins until the the 1980's, when the theater hosted artists such as Vittorio Gassman, Carmelo Bene, and Paolo Poli, and then the impressive restoration completed in 2016, which triggered a new fruitful season.
