Il Decameron di Giovanni Boccaccio è una raccolta di cento novelle, raccontate nell'arco di dieci giorni da una brigata di giovani rifugiatasi fuori Firenze per sfuggire alla peste del 1348. Ogni giorno, a turno, uno dei dieci giovani è eletto re o regina e ha il compito di scegliere il tema delle novelle che verranno narrate. I temi sono vari e spaziano dall'amore (felice o tragico) all'intelligenza umana, dalla fortuna alle beffe. Considerata una delle opere più importanti della letteratura italiana medievale, il ""Decameron"" offre un vivido ritratto della società del tempo, con uno stile narrativo vivace e ricco di dettagli.
