If I Could Fly

Overview

Gabriel daydreams about taking a trip, flying high in the sky to discover the wonders of the world. Where could he go? What would he do? He might travel to Brazil's Amazon Jungle in search of the fierce piranha fish, or relax in the warm waters of Iceland's Blue Lagoon, or enjoy eating a buttery pastry in Paris, France. The world is full of incredible places, animals, and foods, and Gabriel wants to discover them all. If I Could Fly is a charming book full of beautiful illustrations and captivating rhymes. It encourages children to learn about the different people, sights, and foods that are available throughout the world. Who knows what might be waiting for them out there beyond the horizon, if only they could fly!

Author Information

Julian Klazkin is the author of A Bug, a Slug and a Ladybug (2020), Humbugs and Ladybugs (2021), The Great Farm Robbery (2022), and It's A Peachy Deal (2023). A world traveler, Julian would love to do all the things and visit all the places that Gabriel wonders about in If I Could Fly. Julian lives in Bethesda, Maryland, with his wife. Jacob Lawrence is a gifted illustrator and animator who speaks in the language of images. He believes the most powerful stories are often the ones told without a single word, where a character's glance or a splash of color holds the entire narrative. For Jacob, whether he's sketching in a travel journal or animating a new character, it's all about connecting with someone, and making them feel something beautiful. Jacob lives in Nigeria with his wife and daughter.
