Identity Reassignment: Where criminals don't hide - they are reborn

Overview

In 2036, a Chicago homicide detective sees a morgue photo from Baltimore and recognizes a tattoo he can't unsee. The problem is the system insists the body has no identity: no prints, no DNA match, no record. Teaming with a Baltimore detective and a blunt bioinformatics specialist, he uncovers evidence of deliberate biometric manipulation, the kind that does not make someone invisible, it makes them new to every database that matters. Their trail leads to a celebrated humanitarian organization whose clinics and paperwork hide a premium service for criminals: identity reassignment sold in tiers, backed by a brutal ""warranty."" As the investigation goes federal and then global, the detective learns he is not chasing one killer, but a marketplace.
