OverviewPatient identification is the first element in the process of caring for a patient in a healthcare facility. This identification must be subject to a priori vigilance to avoid the dangers or risks that may follow throughout this process. The system for monitoring and preventing risks and errors linked to patient identification is known as identito-vigilance. At the Hospital Universitaire International Cheikh Khalifa IBN ZAID (HUICK) in Casablanca, Morocco, this concerns several categories of professionals, including all those responsible for creating patient files in the IT system, in particular medical secretaries and admissions officers, as well as those responsible for verifying patient identity at each stage of care, in particular stretcher-bearers. Staff responsible for ensuring compliance with management measures in this area are also concerned. The aim of our study is to take stock of the practice of identito-vigilance at the HUICK and to identify the risks of errors linked to this identification.
