Chapter 1: Introduction In the current era of globalization when we are touching the new heights of advancement, every individual wants to be happy and strives for the betterment in all walks of life, may it be social, economic or even religious. Due to this race for perfection, problems in life arises (Kamal, 2009). The people are having cutthroat competition to achieve their goal and due to this situation they are suffering from anxiety, depression, stress, etc. and the condition is so critical that in every six minutes one sufferer is committing suicide (Tiwari, 2009). According to Coleman (1988), the seventeenth century has been called the Age of Enlightenment; The eighteenth, the Age of Reason; The nineteenth, the Age of Progress; and the twentieth, the Age of Anxiety. Although the path to a meaningful and satisfying way of life has probably never been an easy one, it seems to have become increasingly difficult in modern times. Ours is an age of tremendous growth of knowledge and of rapid social change. More scientific and technological advances have been made in the past 50 years than in all previous recorded time. In today's era of stress the restoration of health appears to be a problem. According to World Health Organization (WHO, 1986) the health in total includes physical, mental, social and spiritual dimensions. However, in spite of having an effective immune system endowed by the nature, human is unable to overcome the negative effects of environment leading to stress . Stress is recognized a killer and a major contributor to psychological illness. Individuals can find that impact of stress blights their health and happiness.
