Overview

The first poem I remember ever writing was for my dad's funeral program in January 1994. I was 7 years old. 30 years later, I have been writing poetry as a healing tool to get through and pass life's hardships. It has become my healing, my love, my passion for the arts spoken through rhyming words and eclectic word play. I am a social worker by day and a poetic sunflower at night. I've always loved the idea of word play and using rhyming words to tell a story. I am that woman that enjoys a good lyricist flow over a nice musical melody and instrumental beat. I am that musical butterfly that feels the music first and then listens next. I am Sunshyne's Rhymes.

""I Was Numb Until I Remembered I Was Loved"" is a poetry book dedicated to the growth in healing of the many roles we play in the different relationships and friendships we've encountered over the years. We often wrestle with the thoughts in our head and sometimes if we sit on it too long, our thoughts can become our worst enemy. I've learned to release my feelings through journaling and poetry. I've learned an eccentric way of art through word play to release those thoughts that cloud space in my head. This book of poems is a representation of those thoughts and feelings.
