I Survived 203 Steps: How I Got Here

Overview

This is not your ordinary inspirational photo book. It is a stunning collection of U.S. lighthouse photos, each paired with an uplifting biblical message. Alongside every photo, you'll also find fun and fascinating facts about that lighthouse-short, memorable, and often surprising. Buyers are encouraged to cut out their favorite photos and display them however they wish-whether framed, pinned, or simply taped up in a space that needs encouragement or a touch of beauty. The inspiration doesn't stop with the photos-the facts themselves are just as engaging. For example, did you know lighthouses are measured not only by height but also by steps? Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse stands 176 feet tall with 203 steps, while the St. Augustine Lighthouse is slightly shorter at 165 feet but has 219 steps-proof there's no standard step size. This book makes a thoughtful gift for anyone who loves meaningful photography, unique facts, or the joy of sharing inspiration. Frame the photos, keep them close, or pass them along as special gifts to others.

Author Information

Richard Tubbs has been passionate about photography for more than 25 years. Largely self-taught through workshops, publications, and hands-on experience, he transitioned from the film era to the digital age, mastering the art of focusing on the details that draw the eye. The result: striking photos that capture beauty in its purest form.Richard and his wife, Linda, share a deep love for lighthouses. Their story began at the Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse, where they had their first date. Richard later proposed to Linda at the top of that same lighthouse, and the two were married there. Since then, they have visited more than 130 lighthouses together, traveling through 24 states (including the U.S. Virgin Islands) and 8 countries. Among his adventures, Richard reached Alaska's Denali National Park, where he joined the ""30% Club""-those fortunate few who catch a clear view of Denali's elusive peaks. His photography spans from Nova Scotia and the Outer Banks to the Florida Keys and the Great Lakes.Raised Presbyterian, Richard has spent much of his adult life attending non-denominational churches and is an active member of Northland Church in Longwood, Florida. There, he has served as an editor and desktop publisher for the singles' newspaper and volunteered in numerous ministries.Richard holds a BBA in Marketing, a BS in Computer Science, and a Master of Science in Computer Science. His career path has been diverse-from farmhand to retail employee, payroll worker, and, for the past two decades, a data analyst. Through it all, his truest calling has remained: capturing the world through the lens of his camera.www.iSurvived203Steps.com
