Overview

I Saw Love Dancing is about experiencing love in everyday moments, borne from a journey of growth and healing. The illustrations depict moments between a mother and child, set among British Columbia's beautiful lakes and valleys. Big ideas are brought to life through the story's poetic rhythms, inviting children to recognize themselves as an intrinsic part of the world around them. Inspired by memories of the author's time with her Cree grandmother, this story moves through the seasons with a deep appreciation for nature and the profoundly loving energy that connects all living things. It is a bedtime lullaby to create a moment of connection between children, those they love, and those who love them back.

Author Information

Katrina Plamondon is a Canadian woman of Cree and settler ancestry whose heartstrings are tied to the Kootenay and Okanagan regions of British Columbia, Canada. Her family's stories reflect Canada in the twentieth century, with different cultures blending together through marriage and navigating the lived tensions of colonization. When she became a mother herself, Katrina found new ways to learn about and connect with her roots. Katrina continues to seek pathways to learning more about who she is and where she comes from, reconciling these tensions and holding as precious the pieces of wisdom she can trace to the time shared with her Cree grandmother as a child.
