Reviews

""Written by Kimberly King and her son Zack, I Said No! is based on Zack's real experience. Dangerous situations are illustrated in a practical, but not a graphic, way, and the book offers tots advice about what they should say and do if they ever find themselves in one. After each section, there's a question for adults to discuss with their child. This is best for kids 6 years old and up; it's a little long for much younger kids."" --Popsugar ""Zach and his mother, Kimberly King wrote this fantastic book to encourage child safety and prevent problematic incidents and situations in a language comprehensible to children. The difficulties of communication between adult and child is a common issue, especially when the topic is about prevention of harm. Well, no worries, Zack is here to the rescue, bringing a kid's perspective and communication style to the hard topic of healthy boundaries and body safety. The illustration and written text help many adult supporters with dialogue and discussion. I Said No! has a variety of situations and scenarios that will help bring clarity, understanding regarding how to keep a child safe."" -- StopTheHurt, a project of the Hays-Caldwell Women's Center ""This clever book helps kids understand boundaries, using ""red flag"" and ""green flag"" terminology. It reviews a lot of classic scenarios in simple language."" --Child Mind Institute ""King understands the power of sharing stories."" --Social Work Today ""A compassionate, age-appropriate guide to helping children understand and assert their personal boundaries, [and] a vital resource for parents, caregivers, and educators.""--Renee Reina, PhD, host of The Mom Room Podcast ""When it comes to sexual abuse prevention, I Said No! is the perfect starting point. As a professional in health care, it is extremely helpful for children to know the anatomical names for their body parts to make sure that the safe adults that they share information with understand any concerns that they are told. This book does a fantastic job of guiding conversation around body parts and telling an adult about any red flags."" ―Shawna Wollbrink, RN, Mayo Clinic Center for Safe and Healthy Children and Adolescents ""What a practical book, perfect for providing kids more safety in a chaotic world.
