Author Information

Susan O Leary was born in Cork, Ireland. She studied flute in the Cork School of Music with Evelyn Grant. She has attended master classes with Trevor Wye, Carlo Yans, Wissam Boustany, Susan Milan, and David Nicholson. She studied Music and Psychology in University College Cork and graduated with a Masters of Arts degree in 2002. She then moved to Limerick to take up a full time flute teaching post. She has performed as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician in many concert venues throughout Ireland. Her students have enjoyed successes competing nationally for orchestra positions and at music competitions including; the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland, Irish Youth Wind Ensemble, Feis Ceoil Dublin, Feis Maithiu Cork and Feile Luimni, Limerick. Most recently, a student of hers won the Philip F. Walsh memorial prize given by the Associated Board for the highest mark at Grade 7 in Ireland (including NI). 'I Love to Play my Scales' Grades 3-5, is one of two scale technique books written by Susan. The other, 'I Love to Play my Scales' for grades 6-8 is also available on Amazon.
