Overview

""I Look Like Me"" is a children's book about Bella Rae, a young girl with who has a Cleft Lip and Alveolus. Author Information

My name is Sarah Rae, mother to sweet Bella Rae. She was born with a Cleff Lip and Alveolus, meaning she is missing part of her gum line, has a smaller tooth in the cleft lip area and also some nasal defects. Bella Rae has undergone three surgeries to correct her cleft lip, and while the scars are often barely visible, depending on the angle and lighting, they're part of her story. What is challenging is the lack of awareness and insensitive comments. These experiences have inspired me to write a book sharing our journey. The goal is to foster confidence and self-acceptance in Bella Rae and other cleft lip cuties all over the world. I hope it inspires them to be confident and unapologetic about who they are. So when someone ask's, ""what happened to your face?"" they will tell them their story with pride.
