Both authors were born in Nova Scotia. While growing up, their life paths would cross directly and indirectly before eventually diverging for many years. They reconnected at a college reunion and learned to love again. The authors now live in Manitoba and Minnesota. He continues to tell her, ""I like a lot of people. It's just that I love you.""
