OverviewIn 2019, our second daughter, Cora, was born with a condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, or in other words, half a heart. Our beautiful baby girl fought hard to recover from open heart surgery, but became too sick to keep going. Cora passed away in her mommy's arms at 30 days old. Her older sister was not yet two years old when she lost her baby sister. During the beginning, a very important step of my healing was focusing on others, especially our toddler. I imagined what it must be like for her to lose a sibling at such a young age. I knew she wouldn't fully understand what this loss meant at the time. That's when I began to write this book. A touching poem about infant loss from the perspective of a young child, beautifully illustrated to tell the true story of our little girl who's baby sister passed away as a newborn, and the love she has for her still, and the ways we remember her together. My goal for this story is to share with bereaved parents in a way that may help you to understand the perspective of your surviving child's grief. I also believe it can be important for them to hear a story that they may relate to during such a heartbreaking time. I hope that this book can bring a touch of peace to the heartbroken parents and siblings of those gone too soon.
