The mother of two small children, she also works as a teaching assistant in an inner-city primary school. Karen lives in south London. Barroux studied photography, art, sculpture and architecture in France at the famous Aecole Estienne and Aecole Boule. He went on to work as an art director in Paris and Montreal. Well known for his children's book illustrations, he won the Enfantasie Award in 2005 (for Uncle John and the Giant Cherry Tree).
