OverviewMore and more people are experiencing the pain of loneliness, whether through their own personal suffering or witnessing it in those whom they love or care for each day. Never before have there been more means of communication; however sadly many people feel very cut off from others and are isolated and deeply lonely. The author invites you to reflect on the experiences of different people in scripture and in society and how they were affected by loneliness and what offered them hope and courage so that it may encourage you or those whom you serve. The reflections do not shrink from the feelings of helplessness and confusion that the people experienced but offer insight and understanding, drawn from the authors own experience and observation of the care needs of the person suffering from loneliness and how they may be supported on their journey to a greater quality of life. Each reflection is supported by scripture references. A list of support resources is offered and a Thought to Take Away offers practical suggestions as to how the Christian community may support people who are lonely.
