I Am the Wind

Overview

When new kid Max Weller begins the year at yet another school, he follows his usual pattern of crawling further into his shell, hoping to keep his head down and just try to get by. What he doesn't anticipate, however, is meeting Emma Tate, a popular girl who is determined to befriend him despite his desire to remain invisible. Drawing him into her world of cross-country running, their relationship deepens and grows over the years and Emma's support and encouragement propels Max to become a championship runner. I Am the Wind is a story about running, but it is also a story about friendship and having the courage to keep going no matter what the odds; to push through the ""pain cave"" in both running and in life.
