Brandi-Ann Uyemura is a fifth-generation Japanese American (gosei) from Oahu, Hawaii. She has a masters in counseling psychology and has written self-help and psychology essays for Mother.ly, Whole Life Times, Spirituality & Health, MindBodyGreen, Yoga Journal, and US News.
