English summary: At the heart of this dissertation stands the systematic investigation of the use of proverbs and routinized expressions in the vernacular histories of Cologne from the late medieval period. These two types of formulaic phrases are characterized through their various pragmatic functions in communication processes and are therefore regarded as constituting features of a didactically shaped type of text within ""urban historiography."" In contrast to the modern language studies on phraseology, this study develops proposals for the modification and applicability of the central terms found in historical-linguistic material. This work offers, therefore, a contribution to the study of formulaic language in older linguistic materials, in which the use of this type of language shows, among other things, that the operation of the pragmatic types of routinized expressions in critical measure supports the functions of state-historical texts of the Middle Ages while proverbs and formulaic language serve in a more ornamental capacity. German description: Im Zentrum der Dissertation steht die systematische Untersuchung des Gebrauchs von Sprichwortern und Routineformeln in der spatmittelalterlichen volkssprachigen Stadtgeschichtsschreibung Kolns. Diese beiden Typen von formelhaften Wendungen zeichnen sich durch ihre vielfaltigen pragmatischen Funktionen im Kommunikationsprozess aus und sind daher als konstituierende Merkmale der hochgradig didaktisch gepragten Textsorte ""Stadthistoriographie"" zu betrachten. In Auseinandersetzung mit der gegenwartssprachlich orientierten Phraseologieforschung erarbeitet die Untersuchung Vorschlage zur Modifikation und Anwendbarkeit zentraler Termini auf sprachhistorisches Material. Die Arbeit leistet damit einen Beitrag zur Erforschung formelhafter Sprache in alteren Sprachstufen, indem sie u.a. darlegt, dass der Einsatz der pragmatischen Typen von formelhaften Wendungen in entscheidendem Masse die Funktionen von stadtgeschichtlichen Texten des Mittelalters unterstutzt und Sprichwortern und Routineformeln mehr als eine rein ornamentale Aufgabe zukommt.
