Hurricane Katrina Why? Comes from having first - hand experience of the onslaught of several hurricanes, while living in the South Florida area. The anxieties and emotions are very real as families make extensive preparations before the hurricane, only to be followed by complete chaos and the disruption of everyday living. As one of many Americans the images of complete horror and devastation that the people of New Orleans suffered after Hurricane Katrina are not easily forgotten. People were taken unawares, thousands were displaced, suffered the death of loved ones, and lost everything they owned. Writing this book was a great way of dealing with those images in my mind in a safe non threatening way . It is my hope that many of the victims of Hurricane Katrina especially the children will find comfort in reading this book too.
