Overview

A savage militant cult known as the LRA (Lord's Resistance Army) has been plundering Northern Uganda of its most precious resource for many years - its children. The lives of Silvia and Amos, children of the Acholi tribe, are turned upside down after they are both abducted by the LRA. Like so many in Northern Uganda, they lose everything they have ever known and loved. In the Ugandan bush, their lives cross paths with Grace and her young son Sante, who was born into the rebel group. Hunting Angels takes you on a journey into the depravity of civil war and the courage of the human spirit to survive and overcome against all odds. It gives a voice to the children from Northern Uganda whose stories need to be heard.

I found myself drawn in emotionally to the plight of the children, scarcely able to believe the dark times these children were forced to endure and then rejoicing in their ultimate triumph. Noleen Sanderson is a clinical psychologist who has lived and worked in Africa and other third world nations among survivors of torture and trauma. She has a passion for social justice and allowing individual stories to be honoured and heard.
