"On a tiny island in the shadow of Guadalcanal a deadly game of cat and mouse is taking place between American and Japanese forces, both determined to evade and defeat each other. Private Henrik Hahnemann is an eighteen-year-old Missouri farm boy growing up in the hard scrabble times of the Great Depression.
