Overview

Propaganda played a central role in the rise and establishment of the Nazi Totalitarian State. We see its influence not only within Germany's borders, but also abroad, in territories where there was the possibility of gaining sympathisers for the party. Among the various means used for this purpose were the 'propaganda newspapers' linked to the NSDAP. In this dissertation, as we seek to compare propaganda in Germany with that transmitted abroad, we have selected the newspapers Der Stürmer, from Nuremberg, and Deutscher Morgen, printed in São Paulo. From these publications, we highlight the cartoons published in them as representative examples of this propaganda discourse.
