He has taught economics and statistics at a number of historical black colleges in Virginia, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, and Texas. He has been a visiting faculty member at Harvard, Amherst, Cornell, Gettysburg. He is Emeritus Associate Professor of Economics and Black Studies at Hampshire College, Amherst, MA. He served as editor of the Review of Black Political Economy, Vols. 8-12, 1974-1982. He is the author of Principles of Black Political Economy, Routledge and Kegan Paul (Boston, London, 1984).
