OverviewThis work looks at how Protestants in southern France fared during the religious wars of the latter half of the 16th century. Whilst much has been written about Huguenots in the north of the country where Calvinism ultimately failed to gain a substantial permanent foothold, those in the south of France have received scant attention. This book redresses the balance by focusing on the far more resilient Protestant communities in the south, and in particular the Huguenot bastion of Montauban.
