OverviewHow to Teach the Foundational Skills of Writing - Book 2 is written by highly regarded author and educator Dr Helen Walls (The Writing Teacher). This teaching handbook sets out a 10-week programme to build foundational writing skills to support students who still struggle with spelling, handwriting and/or sentence writing in the middle to senior primary and lower secondary years. In setting out an evidence-based intervention programme, it provides the knowledge, planning and resources you need to teach these foundational skills effectively, every day. Writing tasks provide skill-building activities on a high-interest topic (the solar system) to engage students with sophisticated concepts and vocabulary knowledge, with the result that they feel excited about writing down their ideas and begin to believe in themselves as writers again.
