Author Information

Annie Gray is one of Britain’s leading food historians. She specialises in British food and dining from c.1650–1950, and works as a consultant, broadcaster, speaker and author. She is the resident food historian on BBC Radio 4’s The Kitchen Cabinet. Andrew Hann is head of the historians team at English Heritage. He specialises in country houses and historic gardens and landscapes, with a focus on the 18th and 19th centuries. He is an economic and social historian, and has published on the history of shopping, urban and industrial change, slavery and the country house, and servant life.
