OverviewHow Nigeria Fared Under Muhammadu Buhari is an overview of Buhari's second coming. By successfully defeating an incumbent president in 2015, a lot was expected of him, particularly in the aspect of security, transparency, and the economy. Perhaps, his party's manifesto and the change mantra he sloganised during his campaign and rallies were exaggerated as he never could deliver on them. President Buhari's administration got so bad Nigerians reminisced and romanticized the terror-ridden and corruption-infested government of Goodluck Jonathan, his predecessor whom they voted out for him in 2015! This book takes a look at Buhari's human rights record. Though branded as a reformed democrat, he exuded authoritarian tendencies as evidenced by the 2021 Twitter ban and the 2020 Lekki Tollgate shooting. This book also touches on how ethnoreligious relations were at an all-time low during his second coming. This is evidenced by the sectarian herd mentality that greeted revelations that one of his ministers, Isa Pantami reportedly sympathised with terrorists in the past. Despite the hue and cry from civil societies and members of the public, Buhari did not relieve him of duty thereby fuelling suspicions that he is an ethnic and religious bigot. It is my hope that you find this book enjoyable.
