OverviewThis title presents a true story of success in a time of fear and confusion in the financial system. This a translation that combines Ito's two Japanese bestsellers: Spiritual Management and Celestine Lifestyle . It represents a sea change in books on success as well as books on religion. 'Success' in Ito's sense of the word means achievements backed up by goals that have the good of society at their core. According to Ito's beliefs, contributing to a universal goal of coexistence and co-prosperity will engender harmony with the universe, which can then guide the endeavour. He discusses the need to find the goals originally intended for us, and the success and happiness we will find when we are synchronised with the universe, with the Creator, and the rest of humankind. It is this philosophy and beliefs that enabled Ito to save a bank - one so weighed down by debt that no one expected him to do much more than sign the closing papers. In a dramatic turn around, Kansai Urban Bank recovered and became one of the top second-tier banks in Japan. As chairman of the board, Ito continues to run it with the same philosophy. How I Saved a Bank is divided into two sections. The first describes how Ito came to Kansai Urban, what he did to put it back on its feet; and how the bank was turned into dynamic force for the locale where it is headquartered. The second part goes more deeply into Ito's beliefs. The foundation is in Christianity, but Ito asks us to take a well-considered leap of faith beyond traditional teaching. He explains simply and logically how we can become forces for good that will ultimately lead to happiness and success. Covering financial management with a conscience - this is a real book for our times! It provides a timely, thought-provoking account of how the strong Christian beliefs of the president of a Japanese bank helped him turn the firm from the brink of disaster. Ito rose through the ranks, working in various branches collecting deposits, training new bankers, and helping get Mazda out of bankruptcy. He was assigned to manage some of the largest branches, finally making it to vice-president. He was assigned to deal with a regional bank that was teetering on bankruptcy when the Japanese economy folded in the 1990s. His experience turning the bank's fortunes around was the subject of his first book in Japanese (Spiritual Management), which was followed by Celestine Lifestyle, about his philosophy on life and religious beliefs. He is presently chairman of Kansai Urban Banking Corporation. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
