Author Information

Elizabeth Bird is a former teacher librarian, who spent decades nurturing a love of books into the thousands of children who entered her library. She is a strong believer in the impact that books have on young minds to provide inspiration, provoke curiosity, and explore new ideas. Books allow for reflection and create opportunities for discussion with adults and other children. In her first book, Elizabeth shares her deep beliefs about the need to care for our environment so that as stewards we can pass on a healthy planet to future generations. Through a deeper connection to our planet where people and plants live in harmony, she believes we can create a better world for her grandchildren. Elizabeth holds a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Toronto specializing in Guidance and Counselling. She was part of the Scholastic Book Fairs 1999 judging team for Kids Are Authors at the National level and was teacher librarian advisor of the St. Anthony Catholic School class that was awarded 2002 winner of Canada wide Scholastic Create-a-Book competition. When she's not reading or writing, she enjoys spending time with family, friends and is an avid painter.
