Table of ContentsReviews5 star review of Hot Chocolate Underpants on Readers Favorite Hot Chocolate Underpants is a children's book written by Rafael Jacimin and illustrated by Van der Saim. Each year, Caspian's grandfather gifts his grandson an un-birthday present on the fourteenth of February. For the sake of giving an unconventional present, this had become tradition in Caspian's house. When Caspian opens this year's gift, only to find a pair of brown underpants and a note telling him they are Hot Chocolate Underpants, Caspian is rather underwhelmed. Caspian puts his new underpants on under his school clothes and eats breakfast as his parents try to hurry him up for school. After Caspian's parents leave for work, Grandpa deliberately spills hot chocolate onto Caspian's lap, causing Caspian to start levitating in his chair. Grandpa then spills hot chocolate onto his own lap and both Caspian and Grandpa start to fly, using a broom and a mop to navigate their way around town and have lots of fun. Some find it funny, while others become annoyed. Soon it is time for Caspian and Grandpa to return home to wash the hot chocolate from his special underpants. My brain is still twisted in knots after reading this most unusual tale of a boy who receives a gift which turns out to be quite special, if not extremely unique from other boys' underpants. I must admit that I was not sure what to expect when I grabbed this title off the shelf, and found myself laughing in many places once both of the main characters were airborne. Rafael Jacimin's imagination is incredible, yet slightly bizarre, and I find myself hoping to read more of his deliciously humorous stories in the future. Hot Chocolate Underpants had me frowning while smiling, confused, surprised and amused. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to readers aged between 7 and 12, and feel confident that they will be just as taken by the chain of events which these underpants set in motion after a drop of hot chocolate.
