Overview"Horses and Human Health shows a simple and safe system for bringing horses and humans together in a therapeutic way. It is hoped it will be of great value to those starting, or taking things further, in this field. The intention of Dr Celia Grummitt in writing this book is to give people an understanding of how horses affect human health in a positive way and what horses can offer when used therapeutically. ""The horse is an interactive being and brings an entire new dimension to the therapeutic intervention"". This book is designed to provide the glue between a variety of human focussed skills and sound equine knowledge, so that they can be used together effectively, professionally and safely. The glue is essential if the two areas are to be used in a complementary and symbiotic manner. This is how horses are used to assist humans." Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationCelia has been using horses to improve human health for more than twenty years. She first became aware of the therapeutic impact and importance of involving horses whilst helping others back to health in the 1980s. Since that time Celia has gained a considerable understanding of the field and in 2003 developed an Outdoor Therapy Centre in Wiltshire alongside her mainstream work in NHS General Practice. As a doctor Celia knows that medicine doesn’t hold all the answers and is pleased to use the full range of outdoor therapy in her practice. She has taught many, lectured widely and now recognise the need to establish a book to support these therapies into the mainstream so they are more available throughout the UK. Celia's dream is that outdoor therapy, and horse based therapy in particular, is more available to people as the understanding of this work is spread.
