A multitude of subjects are portrayed: the love of family, country, home, children, pets, flowers, history, wildlife, hobbies, and holidays, to name but a few. There are animals, both real and make-believe, rugs that tell a story, and rugs that make you laugh. They run the gamut: classic forms to abstracts, traditional to contemporary, rugs for the floor and rugs for the wall. Some deal with difficult issues, like war, terrorism, death, and grief. Others rejoice in capturing the moments that make life sweet: bringing a newborn baby home from the hospital, dancing the tango, celebrating a wedding, and playing the cello. There are many surprises, including a dog wearing a party hat, a whale spouting a bouquet of flowers, and a sheep knitting her own sweater. Author Information

Amy Oxford is the founder of the Oxford Rug Hooking School and is a nationally renowned instructor. She's been teaching the craft since 1986, and her teacher certification program has over the past three decades resulted in over 130 Oxford Certified Instructors in the US, Canada, the UK, Europe, the UAE, and Japan. Amy is the inventor, manufacturer, and distributor of the Oxford Punch Needle and is the founder of Red Clover Rugs, a rug hooking shop and mail order business. Amy has been licensed by the Shelburne Museum to make adaptations of their antique rugs, and has helped catalog the museum’s renowned collection of historic hooked rugs. She is the author of seven books including the original bestseller Punch Needle Rug Hooking; Intermediate & Advanced Punch Needle Rug Hooking; and four volumes of Hooked Rugs Today. amyoxford.com Cynthia McAdoo has been photographing hooked rugs for over twenty-five years.
