Overview20 years ago Vaikunthanath Das Kaviraj was asked by a friend whether he would try treating some of her plants, as he had already with the family and their animals. A cordon of pears and apples was infected by a dark red rust. The rust spread quickly and the plant was very 'thirsty'. In the absence of other ideas, Kaviraj reasoned that if the cordon were a human it would be a child with scarlet fever who should benefit from a homoeopathic remedy made from the deadly nightshade, atropine belladonna. The fact that anything happened was a surprise, but that the cordon recovered and began to produce sweeter fruit was a challenge to action. Experiments began on the basis of analogy to the 200 years of collated international experiments which make up the materia medica for humans, and continued by using potentised predators and pests, by studying poisonings from existing agricultural practice, and by sheer serendipity - and the effectiveness of his approach began to become clear. Kaviraj has written down the results of his labours in this beautiful book. Over 70 remedies populate this first agricultural materia medica and repertory. A web-based initiative is already in place for all who wish to collaborate in developing this non-toxic agriculture. The desire to understand what had cured him when everything else had failed, lead to an apprenticeship in the 1970s followed by 10 years running Dr. Chatterjee's rural clinic. Kaviraj has treated many thousands of people from India to Australia, to Europe and back. He is in no doubt that classical homoeopathy is a superb and rational medicine, gentle and effective for humans, animals, and for plants. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
