Home is a Sweater reflects on ideas of place, infertility, trauma, and hope. A series of poems explore memories held within specific organs of the body and others use tangible objects to reflect on absence and loss. Pieces take you to Detroit, Pittsburgh, a kitchen sink, and a small classroom in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Throughout the collection, Wielkopolan continues to question what it means to feel at home in a specific place and within a body. Whether set in Pittsburgh, North Carolina, or her native Michigan, Wielkopolan's poems regularly touch on that struggle we all sometimes encounter with feeling at home. There can be a pain or an ache in returning-to places we no longer inhabit or to memories. But to me the raw and personal poems of this book advocate that there is healing to be found. Author Information

Stefanie Wielkopolan is a native Michigander who now calls Pittsburgh, PA home. Up until the age of eight, she spent every Saturday watching cartoons at a bowling alley bar. She credits this experience for her love of a good dive bar, people watching, and writing poetry. She holds a Master's of Liberal Studies from the University of Michigan-Dearborn and a Master's of Fine Arts in Poetry from Chatham University. Her first collection of poetry, Border Theory, was published by Black Coffee Press in 2011.
