Home Horticulture : Principles and Practices

Overview

Home Horticulture: Principles and Practices is designed as an introductory horticulture textbook that is also appropriate for the non-horticulturist or student who may not major in horticulture, but who wants to know more about horticulture and how plants work on a practical level. It is filled with practical tips and insights, tables, color photos, and line drawings with a strong scientific foundation. Background scientific information provides a deeper understanding, and sets the stage for the multiple chapters that address the application of science and principles. This scientific approach focuses on how plants work, and how to be successful in growing them. Practical application of scientific principles is shown through exercises provided at the end of each chapter. The hands-on exercises range from easy to challenging, and many of them require no special equipment or materials to complete. This practical application reinforces what students have learned and aids in gaining a deeper understanding of the plant culture.
